Dental Insurance
Dental insurance is a type of health insurance designed to pay a portion of the costs associated with dental care. There are several different types of individual, family, or group dental insurance plans grouped into three primary categories: Indemnity (or sometimes called: true dental insurance) which allows you to see any dentist you want who accepts insurance, Preferred Provide Network dental plans (PPO; briefly discussed below), and dental Health Managed Organizations (DHMO) in which you are assigned to an in-network dentist or in-network dental office and must stay within that network to receive your dental benefits.
Dental Insurance is available to individuals and families that are not covered on group dental insurance. For people without dental insurance, cost often stands in the way of getting the care they need to maintain the health of their teeth and gums. Even for routine preventive care, a trip to the dentist's office could mean a substantial amount of money out of your pocket.
A freedom-of-choice plan allows you to see any dentist you wish. However, this plan does impose 6 to 12 month waiting periods for some services. This is not the best plan for an individual who needs comprehensive coverage within the first 12 months. However, if dental coverage is desired for a long period of time, and there is no rush to receive the major benefits, this plan may work for you.
Generally dental offices have a fee schedule, or a list of prices for the dental services or procedures they offer. Dental insurance companies have similar fee schedules which is generally based on Usual and Customary dental services, an average of fees in your area. When a dentist signs a contract with a dental insurance company that provider agrees to match the insurance fee schedule and give their customers a reduced cost for services, this is considered an In-Network Provider or Participating Provider network (PPO). Depending on your specific plan, if you seek an Out-of-Network or Non-Participating Provider, any difference of fees will become the financial responsibility of the patient unless otherwise specified in your dental policy. Some dental insurance plans may have waiting periods. This is a period of time before certain benefits will be covered. Generally set in place when you are a new enrollee or seek out an independent plan outside of an employer or group policy.
Find affordable individual and family dental insurance, get free quotes and compare dental plans. Let Bennett Insurance Group help when you are considering your needs for insurance products for your home or business. Contact us at 623-979-4140

There is a difference between contractors general liability coverage contractors professional liability and builders risk coverage.
Builders Risk: 1st Party coverage for a building under construction, covers the property, building and materials.
Contractors General Liability: Covers your exposure for causing Bodily Injury or Property Damage with exceptions. Covers you acting in your capacity as a contractor only, for example, kids playing on the job site fall in a uncovered trench. A general liability policy would respond on your behalf. It would also respond to a claim such as one of your employees accidentally damages the plumbing in a building and causes water damage.

Stock Insurance Company Vs Mutual Insurance Company
The main difference between a Stock Insurance Company and a Mutual Insurance Company is that the Stock owned company is responsible for making money for the stock holders where as a Mutually owned company is responsible for making money for the Policy Holders, which would be the insured.
A stock owned insurance company must keep their stock holders happy. There are no stock holders in a mutually owned insurance company. Why does that matter? The stock insurance companies have incentive to take risks, they are therefore vulnerable to the pressures of maximizing short term quarterly profits in order to please stock holders. Oh and any dividend gains the stock holders receive are of course taxed.
The executives of a Mutually Owned Insurance Company have a totally different mindset though. They answer to their shareholders who are their policy holders. Their focus is to guarantee maximum benefits to the policy holders and are not pressured to take risks to maximize short term profits. This allows management to always have in mind the long term safety, security and return for you the policy owner & shareholder.
The policy holders actually own a share of the company and so partake in the profits of the company as well. Any dividend gains the policy holders receive are tax free because they are considered a return of premium. A return of an overpayment of premium. The stock company policy holders were over charged also, but to the benefit of the stock holders not the policy owners.
The largest disadvantage is demutualization. Demutualization occurs when a mutual insurance company chooses to become a stock insurance company. This can occur when the mutual insurance company needs to raise capital for business growth or to cover higher than expected losses. In recent years, there have been many cases of demutualization that have led to many mutual insurance companies being acquired by larger companies after the company went public.

Bennett Insurance Group and Surety Bonds
A surety bond or surety is a promise to pay one party (the obligee) a certain amount if a second party (the principal) fails to meet some obligation, such as fulfilling the terms of a contract. The surety bond protects the obligee against losses resulting from the principal's failure to meet the obligation.
At Bennett Insurance Group we work with many of the country's top-rated surety companies to secure:
· Contract Payment and Performance Bonds
· Fidelity Bonds on Employees
· Code Compliance Bonds
· Judicial and Court Bonds, including estate guardianship and repletion bonds
· Professional Service Bonds
Through a surety bond, the surety agrees to uphold, for the benefit of the obligee, the contractual promises (obligations) made by the principal if the principal fails to uphold its promises to the obligee. The contract is formed so as to induce the obligee to contract with the principal, i.e., to demonstrate the credibility of the principal and guarantee performance and completion per the terms of the agreement.
The principal will pay a premium in exchange for the bonding company's financial strength to extend surety credit. In the event of a claim, the surety will investigate it. If it turns out to be a valid claim, the surety will pay it and then turn to the principal for reimbursement of the amount paid on the claim and any legal fees incurred.
If the principal defaults and the surety turns out to be insolvent, the purpose of the bond is rendered nugatory. Thus, the surety on a bond is usually an insurance company whose solvency is verified by private audit, governmental regulation, or both.
A key term in nearly every surety bond is the penal sum. This is a specified amount of money which is the maximum amount that the surety will be required to pay in the event of the principal's default. This allows the surety to assess the risk involved in giving the bond; the premium charged is determined accordingly.
Surety bonds are also used in other situations, for example, to secure the proper performance of fiduciary duties by persons in positions of private or public trust.

Bennett Insurance Group Presents: Arizona Historical Society Museums
Museum at Papago Park
Established by an Act of the First Territorial Legislature on November 7, 1864, the Arizona Historical Society (AHS) is Arizona’s oldest historical agency. Architects of the Territory’s code of laws realized they were making history and that it was important to preserve a record of their activities. One of their earliest actions was to create the means for documenting the past and recording contemporary events as they unfolded. This became the Arizona Historical Society, formed to collect and preserve “all facts relating to the history of this Territory.”
Today, AHS serves as the steward of state and regional history, fulfilling its mission to collect, preserve, interpret, and disseminate the history of Arizona, the West, and northern Mexico as it pertains to Arizona. Collections, housed in AHS museum facilities throughout the state, number in excess of three million objects.
The Society’s artifact and manuscript holdings offer unrivaled opportunities for public programming, educational outreach, and exhibitions, as well as academic and community-based research. AHS collections not only provide premier resources for recounting Arizona’s past, but are invaluable tools for promoting public understanding of contemporary issues such as water availability, immigration, free trade, mining, ranching and agribusiness, the defense industry, cultural diversity, and urban development and revitalization.
The Arizona Historical Society, through its exhibits, programs, publications, and outreach, informs and inspires people of all ages by reminding them of the boldness and daring that characterized countless individuals, past and present, who have made Arizona their home.
More than a single museum the AHS has eight certified museums around the state. This weeks featured museum is located at Papago Park in Tempe, AZ.
The Arizona Historical Society Museum at Papago Park is the principal museum in the Phoenix metropolitan area covering the changes that have made Arizona what it is today. Concentrating on the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, the museum engages visitors on diverse topics such as World War II’s effects on Arizona, the rise of desert cities, Arizona pop culture and sports, and the state’s geology, among many others. The museum brings stories to life through hands-on and multimedia displays, and a variety of educational programs.

Flexible Spending Accounts
Bennett Insurance Group, Inc. offers a complete line of insurance products and services ranging from life and disability income to group life and health insurance. Products and services like Flexible Spending Accounts are designed to provide solutions to your business financial needs, including:
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)Employer-sponsored flexible spending accounts, also known as a flexible spending arrangement, are benefit plan arrangements that allow employees to pay for certain health care or dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis. There are two FSA options. A Health Care FSA is an alternate way of paying your share of your health care costs. In the same manner, a Dependent/Child Care FSA reimburses you for expenses for dependents and childcare which are necessary to allow you and your spouse to work.
When you create an FSA, you choose to have a specific amount of your annual salary withheld from your paycheck and deposited to your FSA. These withholdings are on a pre-tax basis. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA’s) are benefit options designed to increase your disposable income by reducing the amount of taxes you pay.
An FSA enables you to use pretax dollars to pay for qualified health care expenses which are not reimbursed under any health care plan or insurance plan, while a Dependent Care FSA pays for your qualified dependent/child care expenses. However, FSA funds are not interchangeable.
Flexible spending accounts offer significant tax advantages. Employees do not pay federal income, state income, or FICA taxes on the salary they contribute to a FSA plan. Employers, in turn, do not pay matching FICA (7.65%) and FUTA taxes because employees' gross incomes are significantly reduced.
A health care FSA, which allows employees to pay co-payments and deductibles with tax-free dollars, can go a long way to helping employees shoulder their share of the burden. FSAs are excellent tools for employees in savings significant tax dollars especially in this day of rising health care costs.
When considering flexible spending arrangements, for your employees, consider that we place your needs for insurance products as our highest priority. For your home or business think of contacting Bennett Insurance Group at 623-979-4140

Bennett Insurance Group Presents: Musical Instrument Museum
Bang a gong, strum a Burmese harp, and play unique instruments from all corners of the world in the Experience Gallery. Let your imagination come alive in this unique, inspired musical world where you can touch, play, and hear exotic instruments.
The Musical Instrument Museum was founded by Robert J. Ulrich, former CEO and chairman emeritus of Target Corporation. An avid collector of African art and a world museum enthusiast, Ulrich and his friend Marc Felix originated the idea for the Musical Instrument Museum after a visit to the Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels, Belgium. Their unique vision was to create a museum and collection that afford equal representation to the musical instruments and music of every country in the world. Using state-of-the-art audiovisual technology to show musical instruments being played in their original cultural context and delivering the sound of these instruments through high-quality headphones, the Musical Instrument Museum provides a one-of-kind experience to museum guests.
The Museum’s Mission Statement
Musical Instrument Museum enriches the world community by collecting, preserving, and making accessible high-quality musical instruments, images, and music from every country in the world. We celebrate our world’s diverse musical cultures and foster global understanding by offering our guests an incomparable interactive experience, a welcome and fun environment, dynamic programming, and exceptional musical performances.
The Musical Instrument Museum conserves instruments and music-related artifacts to ensure their structural integrity and preservation for future generations. Conservation work includes careful testing and documentation of various methods for stabilizing, preserving, and restoring objects made of a wide variety of materials including woods, metals, bone, hides, and plastics. This research is significant for the broader field of museum conservation and helps to inform the treatment of ethnographic and anthropological collections in museums around the world.
Located just off the Loop 101 at 4725 E. Mayo Boulevard in Phoenix, Arizona, the Musical Instrument Museum has 180,000 square feet with more than 75,000 dedicated to exhibit space. You can get more information at their website; http://www.themim.org

9/11 Memorial Museum
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is the principal memorial and museum commemorating the September 11 attacks of 2001, and the World Trade Center bombing of 1993.
The memorial is located at the World Trade Center site, on the former location of the Twin Towers destroyed during the attacks. The World Trade Center Memorial Foundation was renamed the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center in 2007.
The winner of the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition was American architect Michael Arad of Handel Architects, a New York and San Francisco based firm. Michael Arad worked with landscape architecture firm Peter Walker and Partners on the design which calls for a forest of trees with two square pools in the center, where the Twin Towers once stood.
In August 2006, the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey began heavy construction on the memorial and museum. The design is consistent with the original Daniel Libeskind master plan that called for the memorial to be 30 feet below street level (originally 70 feet) in a piazza. The design was the only finalist to throw out Libeskind's requirement that buildings overhang the footprints.
A memorial was planned in the immediate aftermath of the attacks and destruction of the World Trade Center to remember both the victims and those involved in the rescue attempts. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center is a non-profit corporation with the mission to raise funds for, program, own and operate the memorial and museum at the World Trade Center site. On September 11, 2011, a dedication ceremony was held at the memorial, commemorating the tenth anniversary of the attacks.
The memorial officially opened to the public on September 12, 2011, while the museum was planned to open one year later, on or around September 11, 2012. Three months after opening, the memorial had been seen by over 1 million visitors. In 2012, Tuesday's Children, a non-profit family service organization that has made a commitment to individuals directly impacted by September 11th and to those who have lost loved ones to terrorism around the globe, has partnered with the 9/11 Memorial to offer private tours to family members of 9/11 victims and First Responders.
The 9/11 Memorial and Museum Foundation, which controls the memorial and museum, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the World Trade Center site, say they hope the museum will now open by the end of 2013, although no completion date is actually set.
We at Bennett Insurance Group would like to take a moment today to honor those who died in 9/11, their families, and the heroes who helped in rescue and relief. Never forget!

What Is Insurance?
Well one way to look at insurance is a product that you want to have when you need it rather than a product you wish you had when you discover need to have it.
The very dry way the dictionary defines insurance is:
in·sur·ance / Noun:
1. A practice by which a company provides a guarantee of compensation for specified loss, damage, illness, or death in return for payment...
2. The business of providing such an arrangement.
Insurance is a form of risk management primarily used to hedge against the risk of a contingent, uncertain loss. Insurance is defined as the equitable transfer of the risk of a loss, from one entity to another, in exchange for payment. An insurer, or insurance carrier, is a company selling the insurance; the insured, or policyholder, is the person or entity buying the insurance policy. The amount to be charged for a certain amount of insurance coverage is called the premium. Risk management, the practice of appraising and controlling risk, has evolved as a discrete field of study and practice.
The transaction involves the insured assuming a guaranteed and known relatively small loss in the form of payment to the insurer in exchange for the insurer's promise to compensate (indemnify) the insured in the case of a financial (personal) loss. The insured receives a contract, called the insurance policy, which details the conditions and circumstances under which the insured will be financially compensated.
When considering your need for insurance products for your family, home or business I’m sure you would rather have a friendly and knowledgeable person who cares about you and your families needs when it comes to working with and understanding all of your insurance needs. The Bennett Insurance Group is the place and has the people to fulfill that for you. Consider contacting Bennett Insurance Group at 623-979-4140

Bennett Insurance Group Presents: Arizona Science Center
Arizona Science Center, formerly the Arizona Museum of Science & Technology, was started in 1980 as a pilot science center by the Junior League of Phoenix.
Incorporated as a private, non-profit corporation in 1982, the Science Center opened its doors to the public in 1984. Our first home was a 10,000-square-foot storefront exhibition space located in the parking-garage level of the downtown Phoenix Hyatt.
More than 87,000 people visited the Center its first year. The Center’s success earned it more than $33 million in voter-approved disbursements by the 1988 City of Phoenix Bond to provide the land and construction of the Science Center's new permanent home.
The New Arizona Science Center, 1997
Before concrete for the new building was poured, Arizona Science Center performed a needs assessment for science learning in Arizona. The Center worked with the state's universities, school systems, businesses, and community groups to complete the study. The findings were incorporated into every aspect of the Center to best appeal to its audience: youth, adolescents, parents, and teachers.
In April 1997, the new Arizona Science Center opened its 120,000-square-foot, Antione Predock-designed facility.
The Center Continues to Grow, 2004
In October 2004, a voter-approved expansion of 22,500 square feet opened. The addition included additional classroom and gallery space.
Today’s visitors enjoy:
• More than 40,000 square feet of gallery space
• More than 300 hands-on exhibits
• IMAX® Theater seating 285
• Multi-media Dorrance Planetarium seating 210
• A suite of classrooms
• Gift shop, food service and lunchroom
• Numerous support facilities

Should You Reconsider Your Home Owners Insurance?
Several stories that have appeared in the news lately have lead to this story. Your Home Owners Insurance Policy provides protection for the structure and its contents as well as protection for your liability to those that visit your property. Most people think along the lines of someone falling as the reason for needing liability coverage.
Do you have a swimming pool or hot tub?
You don’t even have to be home for a pool or hot tub problem to expose you to hundreds of thousands of dollars in liability.
Your coverage for the exposure to an accident related to your pool is the largest in dollar value. What is the current limit to your coverage? Could an accident in your backyard lead to the loss of your home and future earnings? It could, if you aren’t adequately covered.
Home owners with a pool and or a spa on their property face challenges every day that include compliance with building codes and ordinances, keeping up-to-date with new products and techniques, and balancing safety with their design dreams.
If a water related accident occurs on your property many related items will be considered when lawyers build a case against your care in relation to your pool or spa. All swimming pools – from the luxury in-ground variety to the simplest inflatable wading pool, can present a danger, especially to children.
Consider having a pool company review your pool to make sure it complies with current regulations and municipal codes. Do not rely on a “grandfather” clause as protection.
Home liability insurance is one of the most important coverage options a homeowner can include on their policy; it’s also one of the cheapest options to add. There are plenty of ways to protect your home with homeowners insurance; hazard insurance, content insurance, etc. If there are damages to your home or personal belongings, your insurance will cover the financial cost of it. But what about you? What coverage protects you if you (or a guest) are injured on your property?
That’s where home liability insurance comes in. Accidents happen, and if they occur in or around your property, it generates personal liability exposure. Let us review your policy and make recommendations that will add protection for you and your family.

Have a Safe and Happy Labor Day
Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It also symbolizes the end of summer for many Americans, and is celebrated with parties, parades and athletic events.
In 1882, Matthew Maguire, a machinist, first proposed the holiday while serving as secretary of the CLU (Central Labor Union) of New York. Others argue that it was first proposed by Peter J. McGuire of the American Federation of Labor in May 1882, after witnessing the annual labor festival held in Toronto, Canada.
Oregon was the first state to make it a holiday in 1887. By the time it became a federal holiday in 1894, thirty states officially celebrated Labor Day.filed with Reyes, leader of the labor movement. Fearing further conflict, the United States Congress unanimously voted to approve rush legislation that made Labor Day a national holiday; Cleveland signed it into law a mere six days after the end of the strike. The September date originally chosen by the CLU of New York and observed by many of the nation's trade unions for the past several years was selected rather than the more widespread International Workers' Day because Cleveland was concerned that observance of the latter would be associated with the nascent Communist, Syndicalist and Anarchist movements that, though distinct from one another, had rallied to commemorate the Haymarket Affair in International Workers' Day. All U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and the territories have made it a statutory holiday.
The form for the celebration of Labor Day was outlined in the first proposal of the holiday: A street parade to exhibit to the public "the strength and spirit of corps of the trade and labor organizations", followed by a festival for the workers and their families. This became the pattern for Labor Day celebrations. Speeches by prominent men and women were introduced later, as more emphasis was placed upon the civil significance of the holiday. Still later, by a resolution of the American Federation of Labor convention of 1909, the Sunday preceding Labor Day was adopted as Labor Sunday and dedicated to the spiritual and educational aspects of the labor movement.
The holiday is often regarded as a day of rest and parties. Speeches or political demonstrations are more low-key than May 1 Labor Day celebrations in most countries, although events held by labor organizations often feature political themes and appearances by candidates for office, especially in election years. Forms of celebration include picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays, water sports, and public art events. Families with school-age children take it as the last chance to travel before the end of summer recess. Similarly, some teenagers and young adults view it as the last weekend for parties before returning to school, although school starting times now vary.
