Learn To Save Money On Car Insurance
Before you buy your next car, check on insurance. Many people assume that SUVs are expensive and Neons are cheap. This is not necessarily true. Some companies will increase your liability based on the cost of damages your type of vehicle may inflict — big trucks cause big damage. However, they also rate the autos based on how likely they are to be damaged in an accident, how often they are stolen, and how badly driver / passengers are injured. That Neon (or Jetta or Honda) is going to be a lot more expensive than you think.
Your driving record, good or bad, will be part of what becomes the calculations that determine your rate. You have other choices that will also affect the dollar amount you pay for your car insurance.
Consider using higher deductibles. Everyone preaches this, yes, but it’s usually the easiest way to cut costs. Usually. (If your car is over ten years old, the savings may be minimal.)
Have all of your insurance in one place. Often, the more types of policies you have, the more you save in discounts.
Do not pay monthly. Your carrier will charge anywhere from $3 to $5 per month for this type of billing. Pay every six months if possible. If you must pay monthly, do an auto pay — the charges are less because they only send a bill if the amount changes.
Consider eliminating towing. Good maintenance and planning can save you money. Don’t run out of gas. Don’t lock your keys in your car. Make sure you have a spare tire and know how to change it. Sometimes your car will break down, but if your car is well-maintained, it won’t happen often. You may pay as much as $30 a year during the life of your policy and one tow costs $100. Before you drop towing make sure that in the event of an accident, towing is covered under your collision coverage.
Consider taking a safety-driving course? Some companies offer a discount for this.
A car with an alarm system may offer you a discount on your car insurance.

Are You Part Of Generation X or Y?
Do you consider yourself part of either Gen X or Gen Y? If you are you need to know that a recent survey shows you need to have more information and a better understanding of financial products and how they will affect the rest of your life.
According to a recent LIMRA study more than half of Gen X and Gen Y consumers admit having little or no knowledge about investments and financial products.
The Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association study supports the notion that “improving general financial literacy could lay the groundwork for improved retirement knowledge. Too few consumers have a good understanding of basic financial concepts and this lack of knowledge can hinder their retirement planning efforts.
The LIMRA study found that Generation X and Y consumers who work with financial advisors are more likely than those who do not to be very knowledgeable about investments and financial products The study found that only one in five work with a life insurance professional.
The study found that married Gen X and Gen Y consumers are very slightly more likely than unmarried Gen X and Gen Y consumers to be very knowledgeable. Gen X and Gen Y consumers who have graduated from college are more likely than those who have not to be very knowledgeable about investments and financial products.
Baby boomers are slightly less likely to indicate that they are “very knowledgeable” about investments and financial products than Gen Xers and Gen Yers. Four percent of baby boomers report being very knowledgeable compared with 7 percent of Gen X and Gen Y consumers. However, Baby Boomers are less likely than Gen X and Gen Y to indicate that they are “not at all knowledgeable” the study noted that comparisons to baby boomers were not a part of the current LIMRA analysis.
The study also found that the market opportunity to offer retirement products and insurance to Gen X and Gen Y households is growing. Some 43 percent of the nearly $3 trillion in Gen X household financial assets is invested in retirement and pension accounts, based on an analysis of the Federal Reserve Board’s 2010 Survey of Consumer Finances. Two thirds of retirement and pension account assets are held in DC savings plans and 30 percent are in IRAs.

Bennett Insurance Group Presents: Phoenix Central Library
In this day and age of computers, satellite TV and smart phones many people overlook the old fashioned library as a source of information, entertainment and research. A modern library can put other sources to shame when it comes to the information age.
Phoenix Public Library is yours to explore!
Between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012, more than 4.6 million people visited Burton Barr Central Library and 16 branch locations.
They checked out more than 14.4 million books, DVDs and CDs.
The Library's website received more than 27.5 million hits.
In November of 1897 fourteen women organize the Friday Club to start a public library. On June 21st, 1898 the Friday Club opens the first Phoenix Public Library in the Fleming Building at Washington and First Avenue. After that the library moved several times and many branches were opened. On December 16th, 1973 the new Burton Barr Century Library at 1740 East Highland Avenue is dedicated.
More than fourteen other branches have been opened or renovated since the new central library became the focal point of the Phoenix Library system.
Recently the library has started a new program with Project NOOK. It is a pilot program to provide NOOK e-readers to Phoenix Public Library customers. NOOKs may be borrowed for 21 days and may not be renewed. Overdue fees apply. The device must be returned to the service desk of the library from which it was borrowed. NOOKs that are not returned will be deactivated. Customers will be billed for damage, loss or non return of the NOOK and/or peripherals, including easel cover and power kit (power adaptor and USB cable).

The History of Presidents’ Day
Titled Washington's Birthday, a federal holiday honoring George Washington was originally implemented by an Act of Congress in 1879 for government offices in the District of Columbia and expanded in 1885 to include all federal offices. As the first federal holiday to honor an American citizen, the holiday was celebrated on Washington's actual birthday, February 22. On January 1, 1971, the federal holiday was shifted to the third Monday in February by the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. This date places it between February 15 and 21, which makes the name "Washington's Birthday" in some sense a misnomer, since it never occurs on Washington's actual birthday, either February 11 or February 22.
The first attempt to create a generic Presidents Day occurred in 1951 when the "President's Day National Committee" was formed by Harold Stonebridge Fischer of Compton, California, who became its National Executive Director for the next two decades. The purpose was not to honor any particular President, but to honor the office of the Presidency. It was first thought that March 4, the original inauguration day, should be deemed Presidents Day. However, the bill recognizing the March 4 date was stalled in the Senate Judiciary Committee. That committee felt that, because of its proximity to Lincoln's and Washington's Birthdays, three holidays so close together would be unduly burdensome. During this time, however, the Governors of a majority of the individual states issued proclamations declaring March 4 to be Presidents' Day in their respective jurisdictions.
An early draft of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act would have renamed the holiday to "Presidents' Day" to honor the birthdays of both Washington and Lincoln, which would explain why the chosen date falls between the two, but this proposal failed in committee and the bill as voted on and signed into law on June 28, 1968, kept the name Washington's Birthday.
By the mid-1980s, with a push from advertisers, the term "Presidents' Day" began its public appearance. Although Lincoln's birthday, February 12, was never a federal holiday, approximately a dozen state governments have officially renamed their Washington's Birthday observances as "Presidents' Day", "Washington and Lincoln Day", or other such designations. However, "Presidents' Day" is not always an all-inclusive term.

The Difference Between Long Term Care and Long Term Disability Insurance
First let us take a moment and define the two different insurances. Long-Term Care is the type of care received either at home or in a facility, when someone needs assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing and dressing due to an accident, an illness or advancing age.
Rising life expectancy means that the potential need for "long-term care" grows with every passing year of your life. The likelihood is that you or a member of your family will need long-term assistance due to a prolonged illness, a disability, or general deterioration of your health and ability to perform routine daily activities. Most long term care expenses are not covered by Social Security or Medicare, Medicare Supplement ("Medigap"), or private health insurance. Medicaid pays for nearly half of all nursing home care, but you must meet federal poverty guidelines and may have to "spend down" most of your assets on health care.
Long Term Disability Insurance is used in the event that an accident or illness prevents an employee from working for an extended period of time, the financial impact can be severe for the employee and employers. Long Term Disability (LTD) protection is designed to help cover the employee's expenses while their regular income is interrupted. Flexible plan design options and benefit alternatives are available to meet specific needs. This valuable protection is available with low-cost, tax-deductible premiums.
Long Term Disability Insurance is meant to replace your income and Long Term Care Insurance is meant to provide care to the individual rather than replace income. The cost of the health care is usually much higher than replacing the income of that same person.

Bennett Insurance Group Presents: The Academy of the Performing Arts
In 2001, the founders of The Academy came together with the vision of enhancing the culture of music, dance, and the performing arts in Arizona. Set up as a non-profit organization from the beginning, this group formed as the first Board of Directors and began programming events, ensembles, and fundraising campaigns. Their first goals were to start small with a few programs and events, and, to increase awareness of the positive effect that an organization such as this can have on a community.
Since that time, the organization has raised money to acquire instruments and equipment to support all of its current programs. In addition, relationships continue to grow with the leaders in surrounding communities that support our efforts. While acquiring a facility of our own is one of the visions of the future, the programs have been run out of community facilities as they are available, allowing for a modest and continued growth.
The Academy involves over 45 part time staff members, a board of directors, hundreds of volunteers, and thousands of audience members combine to make a life-enhancing, and often life-changing experience for the members.
The Academy operates on huge network of support from volunteer forces year-round. We are continually in search for assistance with fundraising events, local camps, and touring throughout the summer. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, engage in social interaction with people who share your passion for the arts, and support our mission of Building Great People Through Great Performances.
They welcome alumni, parents of current and former members, friends of The Academy. By volunteering you will reap the reward of life-long friendships. It will also give you the opportunity to be a close observer of the development of a championship team.

Why Do I Need Insurance
You've worked hard to build a solid financial footing for you and your family, so you want to be sure that everything is protected. Accidents and disasters can and do happen, and if you aren’t adequately insured, it could leave you in financial ruin. You need insurance to protect your life, your ability to earn income, and to keep a roof over your head.
You can insure almost anything under the sun, but certain items absolutely need to be properly insured. Typically this includes your life, your health, and your personal property.
While you want to ensure that you're adequately protected, there are a lot of insurance policies that are unnecessary for most people. Purchasing the wrong insurance, or simply spending too much on insurance can do more harm than good.
The amount and type of life insurance you need is an important question, and you may find that you don't need more than basic life insurance, or that you need a million dollars or more in coverage. There are many factors that need to be considered before purchasing life insurance. Find out whether or not you need life insurance, and if so, how much.
If you own a vehicle, you need to have it insured. Auto insurance is a very competitive industry, and there are a lot of options available to you. Finding the right mix of adequate coverage at a good price can be challenging. Give Bennett Insurance Group a call to find the best auto policy for your needs.
For many people, their home is one of their biggest assets, so it makes sense to provide adequate coverage. Unfortunately, insuring something expensive such as a house comes at a price, but there are many ways that you can save money and get the coverage you need on your homeowners insurance.

Business Interruption Insurance
When a disaster strikes your business, be a storm, fire or other unforeseen event you need to have coverage that does more than just replace your inventory and property. You need to protect your actual dollars and cents.
If your business suffers a property loss it could cause the business to slow or close down while repairs are made. This may mean a complete or partial revenue loss depending on the time frame and the damage. From the time the loss occurs until your business is running again, insurance can replace your lost profits, and provide a source of money to pay your necessary continuing expenses, like rent, payroll, taxes, etc.
Business interruption insurance covers the loss of income that a business suffers after a disaster while its facility is either closed because of the disaster or in the process of being rebuilt after it. A property insurance policy only covers the physical damage to the business, while the additional coverage allotted by the business interruption policy covers the profits that would have been earned. This extra policy provision is applicable to all types of businesses, as it is designed to put a business in the same financial position it would have been in if no loss had occurred.
This type of coverage is not sold as a stand-alone policy, but can be added on to the business' property insurance policy or comprehensive package policy. Since business interruption is included as part of the business' primary policy, it only pays out if the cause of the loss is covered by the overarching policy.
The following are typically covered under a business interruption insurance policy:
Profits: Profits that would have been earned (based on prior months' financial statements);
Fixed Costs: Operating expenses and other costs still being incurred by the property (based on historical costs);
Temporary Location: Special policies may cover the extra expenses for moving to, and operating from, a temporary location;
Extra Expenses: Reimbursement for reasonable expenses (beyond the fixed costs) that allow the business to continue operation while the property is being repaired.

Bennett Insurance Group Presents: The Phoenix Symphony
The Phoenix Symphony is an experience perfect for sharing with friends, family, colleagues, or clients. By attending as a group of 10 or more you will receive discounted tickets and other premium benefits, allowing you to open doors and create memories of a lifetime.
The Phoenix Symphony will be the arts leader in the revitalization of a thriving Arizona. The Phoenix Symphony is a cultural icon and a reason people will like to live in Arizona whether they attend concerts or not. And, the Symphony will be one of the many compelling reasons people will want to move to Arizona. This will happen because our community will recognize that the Symphony provides unparalleled civic value.
The Symphony’s first rehearsal on September 18, 1947 was held in the band room of North High School in Phoenix on Thomas and 7th Street
The 77 musicians at that rehearsal were paid $1.50 per rehearsal and $5.00 for each concert
The first season had just 4 shows, all at the Phoenix Union High School auditorium – today, they play over 150 concerts in Symphony Hall, Valley schools and throughout the Metro area
Concertmaster Steven Moeckel was once the principal soprano of the Vienna Boys Choir. They are glad he picked up the violin!
Music Director Emeritus Hermann Michael, born in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Baden-Württemberg Germany, had no formal conducting training, though he did study cello and piano at the Stuttgart Conservatory…which goes to show that music is a magic that they study and feel.
Location: 75 N. 2nd St. Phoenix, AZ 85004 • 602-495-1999

Surety Bonds
A surety bond or surety is a promise to pay one party (the obligee) a certain amount if a second party (the principal) fails to meet some obligation, such as fulfilling the terms of a contract. The surety bond protects the obligee against losses resulting from the principal's failure to meet the obligation.
At Bennett Insurance Group we work with many of the country's top-rated surety companies to secure:
Contract Payment and Performance Bonds
Fidelity Bonds on Employees
Code Compliance Bonds
Judicial and Court Bonds, including estate guardianship and repletion bonds
Professional Service Bonds
The History of Surety Bonds
Individual Surety Bonds are the original form of suretyship. The earliest known record of a contract of suretyship is a Mesopotamian tablet written around 2,750 BC. There is evidence of Individual Surety Bonds in the Code of Hammurabi and in Babylon, Persia, Assyria, Rome, Carthage, the ancient Hebrews and later England.
The Code of Hammurabi, written around 1790 BC, was the first time suretyship was addressed in a written legal code.
It wasn't until 1840 that the first Corporate Surety was organized, The Guarantee Society of London.

Liquor Liability Insurance
Liquor Liability Insurance is designed to provide liability insurance protection for those businesses who manufacture, distribute, or sell liquor. You need liquor liability insurance if you sell liquor and your business is a:
Bar
Tavern
Nightclub
Fraternal Club
Convenience Store
Liquor Store
Restaurant
Liquor liability insurance is business insurance that protects your business against loss or damages claimed as a result of a patron of your business becoming intoxicated and injuring themselves or others. If your business manufactures, sells, serves, or facilitates the uses or purchase of alcohol, then your business may need this coverage.
Liquor liability coverage may be sold as an add-on to a commercial liability policy or as a separate liability policy. But, if you do not purchase this extra coverage your standard liability policy does not protect your business against these kind of claims.
As a final note, liquor liability insurance will not cover sales that are contrary to law and sales to minors.
