Bennett Insurance Group Presents: Arizona Capitol Museum


The Arizona Capitol Museum presents: Looking Forward to Your Visit, the first in a series of programs designed to help teachers enhance the Capitol experience.

The Arizona Capitol Museum is part of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, serves the information needs of Arizona citizens as authorized in Arizona Revised Statute §41-151. Research and reference services are provided in the subject areas of law, government, genealogy, and Arizoniana. Consultant services are offered to public libraries to strengthen county and local library services, and to government agencies of the cities, counties, and state to assist them in the management of official records. State grants for public libraries and other authorized services are administered and monitored. Special library and information services are offered for anyone who is unable to read or use standard printed materials as a result of temporary or permanent visual or physical limitations. Public records are identified, preserved, and disposed through archival retention programs. Exhibits are created to educate the public regarding government-related history and the legislative process. 

History and Archives identifies, acquires, cares for, arranges and describes and makes available the permanently valuable public records of Arizona. It provides leadership and assistance to organizations and individuals responsible for historical records. The Archives promotes historical research and encourages the study of Arizona history. Holdings date from 1864 to the present.

The Arizona Capitol Museum is housed in the original 1901 Capitol building which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Museum offers exhibits and programs designed to connect people with Arizona government – past and present.

• Commemoration of special state events
• Collaboration with cultural organizations
